A large amount of research in life science is unreproducible due to varying antibody specificity. Comparing samples with the target protein depleted to samples with the protein expressed at normal levels is one of the best ways to ensure antibody specificity (Uhlen et al., 2016). ABclonal aims to improve the quality of life science research by introducing KO-validated antibodies.
Gene knockout refers to the technique where a gene is inactivated (knocked out) through replacement or disruption of DNA. In research, gene knockout is used to infer the function of a known sequence. ABclonal validates our antibodies using CRISPR/Cas9, the leading technology in gene-editing. The gene that encodes the target protein is inactivated, hence producing samples with the target protein depleted.
